Biography
Melanie is a human geographer by training, with interests in food studies, inequality and poverty, Canadian social policy, and how economic change affects people and places. Her work on landscapes of food retailing and food insecurity is informed by contemporary theories of social justice, dignity, and urban political economy. In addition to earning her PhD in human geography from Queen’s University, she holds degrees in public administration, and public affairs and policy management from Queen’s University and Carleton University, respectively.
