Biography
John’s various teaching concentrations examine the global HIV/AIDS epidemic, race and ethnicity in a variety of spaces and times, environmental sociology, neoliberal governance and globalization, health and environment interactions, theories of the self, post-modernity, post-structuralism, feminism, and qualitative research methods. If he were a Quest student, his question would examine the complex relationship between human health, the environments we live in, and the social worlds we inhabit. John first encountered the block plan while in high school and then went on to earn a comparative literature BA with honors from Colorado College. For his keystone, John conducted original research on the implications of Nuyorican poetry in New York City upon socio-cultural life and community empowerment in lower Manhattan. It was at Colorado College that he became convinced that block scheduling facilitates a deep engagement with ideas that is not possible in a traditional semester or quarter format.
