Biography
Thor is an evolutionary ecologist interested in better understanding the processes underlying biological diversity. One of the great aspects of biodiversity research is the diversity of questions that can be asked on topics ranging from genetics to behaviour to physiology and the variety of research methods and organisms available to tackle these questions. During his PhD he focussed on mating decision between two hybridizing flycatcher species, subsequently branching out during his postdoctoral work to study mate choice and adaptation in crickets and most recently three-spined stickleback fish. He uses theoretical models to validate some of the new ideas emerging from his empirical work.
