Biography
Aye Aye Khine received her medical degree from the Institute of Medicine 1, Rangoon, Burma, and M.Sc. in Clinical Biochemistry and Ph.D. in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology from the University of Toronto. Aye Aye's research during her graduate studies was to understand the mechanism of verotoxin produced from Escherichia coli in the pathogenesis of hemolytic uremic syndrome. After finishing her Ph.D., Aye Aye spent 2 years of post-doctoral fellowship at Amgen Research Institute to further pursue molecular virology training. With her background in cellular and molecular biology, microbiology and biochemistry, Aye Aye worked as an associate scientist at St. Michael's Hospital in the field of human neutrophil antimicrobial peptides, alpha defensins. Aye Aye held a research scientist positions at Lorus Therapeutics Inc., participating and supervising a research team to understand molecular mechanisms of anti-cancer lead compounds. Aye Aye joined the research and development team of NOVX Systems Inc. in 2007 as a scientist where she worked on immunochemistry, verification, and validation studies. She joined Qvella as a founding member in 2009 where she directs its molecular and assay development efforts.
