Biography
Joel Klinck completed his honours biology undergraduate degree at Wilfrid Laurier University. He then worked for Dr. Richard Playle at WLU for a year after his BSc and it is there that he began his journey towards becoming an aquatic toxicology/physiologist. He then moved on to McMaster University to start a masters degree under the supervision of Dr. Chris Wood, and transferred into a PhD program in his second year and graduated in 2012. His dissertation focused on the characterization of transport mechanisms of cadmium and calcium across the gastrointestinal tract of rainbow trout. After completing his degree he worked for Environment Canada at the Canada Centre for Inland Waters studying the effects of pharmaceuticals and personal care products on freshwater mussels. In 2013 he came to Redeemer to begin his current faculty position in the Biology Department.
