W. James O’shea

Biography

Mr. O’Shea has been a member of Cardiome’s Board of Directors since 2014, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board. From October 1999 to March 2007, Mr. O’Shea was President and Chief Operating Officer at Sepracor Inc., then a publicly held pharmaceutical company, where he was responsible for successfully building that organization’s commercial infrastructure. From April to August 2007, Mr. O’Shea served as Sepracor’s Vice Chairman. Prior to Sepracor, Mr. O’Shea was Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Medical Affairs for Zeneca Pharmaceuticals, a business unit of Astra Zeneca Plc, a publicly held biopharmaceutical company. While at Zeneca, he also held several management positions of increasing responsibility in international sales and marketing in the U.S. and U.K. Mr. O’Shea is past Chairman of the National Pharmaceutical Council and is also a board member of BTG plc, Prostrakan Group Plc, Zalicus Pharmaceuticals and Trevi therapeutics, a privately held biotechnology company. Mr. O’Shea is a graduate of Liverpool Lord Byron University, where he received an honors degree in applied physics from the Institute of Physics.
