Biography
William T. Symonds, Pharm.D. has served as Chief Development Officer of Roivant Sciences, Inc. since November 2016. He previously served as Roivant’s Senior Vice President, Clinical Research from the company’s inception through November 2016. He also currently serves as a director of Arbutus Biopharma Corporation, a company focused on developing a cure for chronic hepatitis B virus infection. From February 2012 to April 2014, Dr. Symonds served as Vice President, Liver Disease Therapeutic Area at Gilead Sciences, Inc., and he was the Senior Vice President, Clinical Pharmacology and Translational Medicine, at Pharmasset, Inc. from 2007 to January 2012. From 1993 to 2007, Dr. Symonds held various positions of increasing responsibility at GlaxoSmithKline, most recently as Director, Antiviral Clinical Pharmacology and Discovery Medicine. Dr. Symonds received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Campbell University and completed a fellowship in clinical pharmacokinetics at the Clinical Pharmacokinetics Laboratory in Buffalo, New York.
