Research Interest
G. Charles Dismukes is Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University appointed to the faculties of the Chemistry & Chemical Biology Department, the Waksman Institute, and the Biochemistry and Microbiology Department. His research interests focus on biological and chemical methods for renewable solar-based fuel production via natural photosynthesis, artificial photosynthesis, and tools for investigating these systems. His published works describe the biology and chemistry of water oxidation in natural photosynthetic systems, photoautotrophic carbon metabolism investigated by ohmics tools, microorganisms as cell factories for the production of renewable fuels, catalysts for water oxidation, H2 production, and CO2 reduction, and photoelectrochemistry. He teaches graduate courses in microbial biochemistry, advanced inorganic chemistry and undergraduate inorganic chemistry
