Biography
Dr. Olson is Senior Manager of Environmental Health Services for SafeBridge Consultants, Inc. and has over 30 years’ experience as a toxicologist including 21 years specifically devoted to consulting on and managing programs for occupational toxicology, hazard evaluation and communication, and risk assessment in the pharmaceutical industry. His research experience includes; biochemical toxicology of liver and kidney, role of metabolism in toxicity, development and use of in vitro and alternative toxicological methods, toxicology of the skin and eye, and safety assessment of novel chemicals. Mike earned the Ph.D. in Toxicology from University of Arkansas – Medical Sciences working at the National Center for Toxicological Research, US FDA. His post graduate employment includes service at University of North Carolina – School of Medicine (NRSA Fellow), General Motors Research Labs (Manager, Manufacturing Emissions Health Effects), US EPA (Visiting Scientist), and GlaxoSmithKline (Director, Occupational Toxicology). Dr. Olson has served multiple terms as an officer in Society of Toxicology and other professional societies, as an adjunct faculty member, and journal editorial board associate. He has a record of invited service as consultant / advisor to many US Federal Agencies, including DHHS/NIH,NIEHS and NTP, NAS, USAF, DOT, and NIOSH. Dr. Olson is an elected Fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences.
