Biography
As Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer for Scotiabank, Terry Fryett oversees the global management of credit risk for the Bank, including chairing the key credit committees for Canadian Banking, International Banking and Global Banking and Markets. Terry joined Scotiabank in 1977 and held numerous corporate banking roles in Toronto, Calgary, Houston, New York and the United Kingdom, where he was CEO of Scotiabank Europe Plc. He returned to Canada in 2004 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Scotia Capital (now Global Banking & Markets). Prior to his latest appointment, he served as Senior Vice President, Global Risk Management, since 2006. Terry holds Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Administration in Finance degrees from McMaster University. He is a director of the Principles Consultative Group of the International Institute of Finance (IIF). Terry and his wife, Candace, have two daughters, Jennifer and Carly.
