Biography
Marlène Otis holds a Master’s degree in Earth Science (M.Sc.A.) from Université du Québec à Chicoutimi and an MBA from HEC Montréal. She has over 20 years of experience in SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) commercial lending including 15 years as a senior executive, namely serving as Vice-President of the Commercial Banking Division of the Laurentian Bank. Since 2007, she has worked mainly abroad, as a senior consultant for African bank executives in credit risk management and financial product development, and in capacity-building in management for chambers of commerce and other SME associations in Africa and in Haiti. These short-term projects are supported by the World Bank and international development agencies and are mostly based in West Africa. At the beginning of her professional career and for about a decade, Mrs. Otis was an exploration geologist, working mainly in the James Bay region.
