Biography
Mathieu Gervais has a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from HEC Montréal and a Master’s degree in economics from Université de Montréal. Since 2016, Mr. Gervais has held the position of Director of Economic Development at the Ministère des Finances du Québec. In that capacity, he participates in the development of the Québec government’s economic strategies and in the analysis of major economic projects. In particular, he is responsible for economic projects relating to the mining sector, including those funded through the Capital Mines Hydrocarbures fund, and for the government’s interests in various venture capital funds. Beginning in 2005, he held various positions at the Ministère des Finances, including that of Director of Corporate Tax Measures between 2012 and 2016. As part of his duties, he helped develop policies with respect to Québec’s mining duties regime and was in charge of tax incentive measures for businesses in the mining sector.
