Biography
Robert Marquis holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Earth Science from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), and a Ph.D. in Geology from Université de Montréal. He has more than 30 years of experience in geology, essentially in the mining sector. He held various positions at the Ministère des Ressources naturelles du Québec (MRNQ), namely as Associate Deputy Minister for Mines from 2011 to 2013. Since August 2013, he is now President and CEO of the Institut national des mines du Québec. He also served as the founding President of the Association québécoise des sciences de la Terre (AQUEST) from 2005 to 2012, and served as President of the Geological Association of Canada (GAC) in 2007. In 2010, the Ordre des géologues du Québec awarded him the Prix du Mérite Géoscientifique and in 2007, he received the Reconnaissance Award from the Faculty of Science at UQAM.
