Biography
Don Brooks joined the faculty of UBC in 1974 and is Professor in Chemistry and in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, in addition to an appointment at the Centre for Blood Research. He is the past-Associate VP Research for UBC. He has published over 150 research scientific papers, has edited four books and holds four US patents, two of which form the scientific basis for and are licensed by a successful point-of-care diagnostic company in Vancouver. He received the 2002 Golden Jubilee Medal, the 2000 UBC Alumni Award for Research, and has received recognition from NASA and the American Chemical Society for his research.
