Biography

Mr. Alexander Sinclair Taylor, also known as Sandy, serves as the President of Power sector at SNC-Lavalin Inc. Mr. Taylor has been President of Power Sector at SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. since March 2014 and served as its Senior Executive Vice-President and Group President of Power since March 01, 2014. He is responsible for growing SNC-Lavalin Group's Power Group, which includes Nuclear, Hydro, Transportation & Distribution and Thermal divisions. He has vast experience in numerous engineering sectors, with an excellent track record in a range of power generation and transmission and distribution projects. Mr. Taylor also has significant experience in providing services to industrial and utility clients in Canada and around the world. He joins SNC-Lavalin after 29 years with ABB, where he held a number of senior roles, including Senior Group Vice-President of the Global Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals business unit. He served as Global Head of Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Unit at ABB Ltd. Mr. Taylor served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of unit at ABB Inc. from January 2005 to January 2008. He served as Group Vice President of Oil & Gas Industries - Worldwide Aut at ABB Inc. Mr. Taylor served as Senior Group Vice President of Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Business Unit of ABB Inc. He served as the President of Canada Operations and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Operations at ABB, Inc. from January 2005 to January 2008. He joined ABB in 1985 and held positions of increasing responsibility. Mr. Taylor has acquired over twenty-year experience working with utility and industry customers in Canada. He has significant experience in providing services to industrial and utility clients in Canada and around the world. He started his career in 1979 with Atomic Energy of Canada as a Commissioning Engineer within the Nuclear Process Systems Group. In 1985, he joined Elsag Bailey, where he held successively senior management positions both in Canada and overseas and coordinated activities in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. One year after the merger of Elsag Bailey with ABB in 1998, Mr. Taylor served as the Group Vice President, Head of Oil and Gas Industries within the Process Automation Technologies Division of the ABB Group. From 2002 to 2004, he served as a Senior Vice President for ABB in Canada and as Group Vice President, Head of Oil and Gas Industries for ABB worldwide from 2000 to 2008, both as part of ABB’s Automation Technologies Division. He has been an Independent Director at Wajax Corporation (also known as Wajax Income Fund & Wajax Limited) since 2009, where he served as its Trustee. Mr. Taylor graduated from Queen’s University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He attended the University of Western Ontario where he was awarded a Master of Business Administration degree in 1985.
