Biography
Hartland J. A. Paterson is SNC-Lavalin’s Executive Vice-President and General Counsel. He is responsible for both the company’s Legal and Ethics & Compliance functions. Mr. Paterson has both legal and ethics and compliance executive-level experience in Canada and internationally, with extensive experience in commercial and corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and financing. He joined SNC-Lavalin after 14 years with CAE Inc., where he was a member of the Executive Committee and held the position of General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Secretary. Prior to that, he was Vice-President and Associate General Counsel, Legal and Public Policy, at Cable & Wireless in Japan, and previously held senior positions in the telecommunications industry and at an international law firm. Mr. Paterson holds bachelor degrees in Common and Civil Law from McGill University and was admitted to the Quebec Bar association in 1987.
