Sylvain Girard

Biography

 Mr. Girard has over 24 years of international experience across numerous financial functions, including strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, forecasting, cost control, risk management and auditing, as well as improving cash performance, financial controls and profitability. Prior to joining SNC-Lavalin, Mr. Girard spent 22 years at GE. He held positions of increasing responsibility, including 14 years as CFO in the financial services and health care sectors in Europe for GE. He was responsible for, among other things, developing and executing growth strategies, simplifying accounting procedures by implementing a Centers of Excellence, driving cost actions to increase profitability, providing financing and deal structuring solutions for strategic customer transactions and leading European teams of finance professionals. Before being appointed Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Girard was Senior Vice-President and Corporate Controller, overseeing the company’s global financial affairs and strengthening its finance function. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice-President, Finance, Power, where he played a central role in positioning the sector for future growth. Mr. Girard holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and International Business from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
