Biography

Dr. Catherine Streutker obtained her BSc at the University of Waterloo in the Co-operative program in Biochemistry (1989). She then earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Toronto (1991), training under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Drucker. On completion of her Master’s degree, she entered medical school at the University of Toronto and graduated in 1994. She entered the Anatomic Pathology Residency program at the University of Toronto and wrote the Royal College Exam in 1999. After this, she completed a two year fellowship in Gastrointestinal Pathology with Dr. R.H. Riddell and Dr. K. Croitoru at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. In 2001, she joined the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto as she began her appointment as a Staff Pathologist at St. Michael’s Hospital. She presently specializes in gastrointestinal pathology, particularly upper gastrointestinal tract malignancies but considers herself a general surgical pathologist. She is presently the Director of the Surgical Pathology group at St. Michael’s Hospital.
