Biography

Dr. Donna Ouchterlony is a Family physician and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. She started the first Neurorehabilition unit in Canada and was director for 29 years. She was on the executive of the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) network when it was founded and chaired the referral process committee changing a cumbersome patient unfriendly process into an efficient patient centered process. She received an award from the ABI network for this contribution. She co-founded the Sunnybrook Head injury clinic with Dr. Anthony Feinstein. She has directed the St. Michael’s Hospital head injury and Urgent Concussion care clinic for 18 years and it is now the largest clinic of it’s kind in Canada. She was one of seven authors of the second edition of the guideline on Mild Traumatic Brain Injury . She has received numerous awards in her career including the St. Michael’s Hospital award for excellence in patient care, the Bruce Halliday award for improving the care of disabled patients. She has presented and published internationally in this field. She is currently working with a group to standardize Concussion care across Ontario. Her research interests are centered on symptom management and improved system efficiency in Concussion care.
