Donald Alexander Stewart

Biography

Mr. Donald Alexander Stewart, also known as Don, F.I.A., F.C.I.A. serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Financial Asia. Mr. Stewart served as Chairman of Sun Life Financial Inc., from September 1999 to June 2003 and its Chief Executive Officer from September 1999 to November 30, 2011. Mr. Stewart served as the Chairman of Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada, a subsidiary of Sun Life Financial Inc., from April 1999 to November 30, 2011 and its Chief Executive Officer until November 30, 2011. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Trust Company since September 1992 and President and Chief Operating Officer since 1996 and also Chief Executive Officer since 1998. He serves as Chairman of Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Limited. He served as Chairman of Birla Sun Life Insurance Company Limited until November 9, 2011 and served as its Non-Executive Director Until October 24, 2016. He serves as a Director of Sun Life Insurance & Annuity Co. of New York. He serves as Director of the International Insurance Society, Inc. He serves as Director at Massachusetts Financial Services Company. He has been a Director at Novelis Inc. since May 15, 2007. Mr. Stewart serves as a Director of Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association Inc., and MFS Investment Management, Inc. He also serves as a Trustee of CI Financial Income Fund. He served as a Non-Independent Director of Sun Life Financial Inc., from 1999 to November 30, 2011. He also served a Director of the American Council of Life Insurers and serves as a Trustee of CI Financial Income Fund. He served as Director of Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada (U.S.) since 1996. He served as Trustee of CI Financial Corp since September 12, 2006. Mr. Stewart holds a Degree in Natural Philosophy from the University of Glasgow in 1968.
