Mark S. Saunders

Biography

Mark S. Saunders is Executive Vice-President and Chief Information Officer of Sun Life Financial. Mark is responsible for all aspects of enterprise IT, including strategy, architecture, infrastructure and applications. Mark also oversees Corporate Real Estate, Asia Service Centres, Procurement and several other shared business services. He is a member of the company’s Executive team. Mark joined Sun Life in March 2009 and has more than 20 years of IT leadership experience with major international financial institutions. He has a strong track record managing large-scale IT organizations and delivering IT solutions that drive business innovation and competitive advantage. Prior to joining Sun Life, Mark was with Barclay’s PLC as Senior Technology Officer for Barclay’s Commercial Bank. He also held executive roles with BMO Financial Group, where he managed enterprise infrastructure and was CIO for BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. As well, Mark spent a number of years with Manulife Financial, accountable for various IT operations. He started his career at Wood Gundy in Toronto. Mark is currently a member of Sinai Health System’s Board of Directors. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Greenwich University in London.
