Shamini Samuel

Biography

Shamini Samuel is Regional Manager of Industrial Hygiene and Compliance (Oil Sands & In Situ) at Suncor Energy’s facilities in the Wood Buffalo Region. Suncor Energy Inc. is Canada's premier integrated energy company. Shamini has been an EHS professional for more than 20 years. Apart from working in industry, Shamini has had previous experience as a process and technical engineer at a national sewerage company and chemical manufacturing corporation, and a consultant to government institutions, and the private sector in the field of environment, health and safety. Her technical expertise is providing occupational hygiene support and advice to Suncor’s employees and management, and ensuring compliance to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and environmental requirements (Air, Water, Odor, GHG, Waste and Wildlife requirements). Shamini is an active volunteer in the Industrial Hygiene profession, currently serving on the Boards of the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (current President), and previously serving on the American Board of Industrial Hygiene Board,the Alberta AIHA Local Section and Occupational Health Training Association.
