Mark Ward

Biography

 Mark Ward was appointed President & Chief Executive Officer of Syncrude Canada Ltd. in May 2014. In this role, he oversees the effective management and stewardship of Syncrude, which has over 5,000 employees and is one of Canada’s largest producers of crude oil from the oil sands of Alberta, with productive capacity of 350,000 barrels per day. Mark came to Syncrude from his previous role at ExxonMobil as Managing Director in Nigeria and brings 34 years of experience to this role. Throughout his extensive career, Mark has held various engineering, planning and executive positions around the world including Indonesia, Venezuela and most recently Nigeria. He holds a Chemical Engineering degree from Texas A & M University and has three grown children
