Biography

Jennifer Youngs is currently serving on the voice faculty and Director of Opera at Texas Woman’s University. She made her main stage Dallas Opera debut in the 2012-2013 season, as Olimpia in Argento’s The Aspern Papers. She was a member of the Young Artist Program with The Dallas Opera, where in the 2011-2012 season she has played the role of Laurette in the production of Bizet’s Dr. Miracle. Youngs has performed the roles of Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Birdie in Regina, and Vitellia in La clemenza di Tito, Julie in Carousel, Gretel in Hansel und Gretel, Casilda in The Gondoliers, and Clorinda in La Cenerentola. Jennifer is widely featured as a soloist around the country with performances of Carmina Burana, Mahler’s 4th Symphony, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Bach’s Cantata #110, Brahms Requiem, Mozart’s Exsulate, jubilate, and Mozart Requiem. She has also appeared in concert with Jake Heggie, Dominick Argento, and Dave Brubeck. Jennifer won First Prize at the Lois Alba Aria Competition. She is also a winner of the Kansas City District of the Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions, semi-finalist in the Loren Zachary Vocal Competition, and has been nominated for a Richard Tucker Foundation Career Grant, in New York City. Youngs is currently pursuing a DMA at the University of North Texas.
