Biography
Harriet Harty is executive vice president of Human Resources for Allstate Insurance Company. Leading a critical function in Allstate's transformation to meet evolving consumer needs, Harty's approach to talent strategy, and the tools and programs that support it, is cutting edge. Her progressive thinking, data-driven strategy is setting the gold standard for how Allstate attracts, retains and cultivates a diverse, purpose-driven culture that sets Allstate apart from the competition. Harty joined Allstate in Human Resources in 1995 and held a number of key positions before becoming executive vice president in 2015. She founded Power of 5, an internal program for mentoring and sponsoring Allstate's senior, experienced and high-potential female leaders. Power of 5 allows Harty to combine her entrepreneurship with a passion and enthusiasm for engaging and developing women in the workplace. She received her bachelor's degree in accounting from Northeastern Illinois University and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She holds Certified Public Accountant, Certified Benefits Professional and Certified Compensation Professional designations. She also is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, Peer CHRO 150, the CHRO Insurance Conference Group and the HR Policy Association. Harriet is currently on the board of both Women Employed, a nonprofit advocacy organization for working women based in Chicago, and After School Matters, a non-profit organization that provides life-changing after-school and summer program opportunities to more than 15,000 Chicago high school teens each year. She, her husband John and daughter Carissa live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
