Namta Gupta

Biography

Dr. Namta Gupta received her medical degree from the University of Manitoba in 1993, and completed her residency training in family medicine at McGill in Montreal in 1995. She received Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) in 1995 and she became a Fellow in 2010. Over the past two decades, Dr. Gupta has worked in remote northern and rural communities, as well as in urban settings. She presently has a comprehensive family practice in Montreal, with particular interest in women’s health, mental health, and pediatrics. Dr. Gupta has served as Assistant Dean, Student Affairs, at McGill University since 2009. She is also the past Chief of Teaching/Program Site Director at the CSSS de la Montagne. In her role as Assistant Dean, she has successfully supported several programs to promote wellness, resilience, and professionalism in the faculty learning environment. In 2016, she received her associate professorship within the Department of Family Medicine. She is the Director of the Curricular Wellness and Career Program and in this role, she actively promotes the discipline of family medicine early in the curriculum. At McGill, Dr. Gupta also serves as Chair of the Faculty Scholarship Committee and the Learning Environment Committee. She is Past Chair of the Admissions Professionalism Standards Committee and the Social Accountability Task Force Committee. She liaises with numerous Faculty groups including the Medical Students’ Society executive team and the Fédération médicale étudiante du Québec. At the CFPC, Dr. Gupta has been actively involved with accreditation standards, the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and the Association of Medical Faculties of Canada (AFMC). She began her term as Director-at-Large with the CFPC’s Board of Directors in 2016.
