Biography
She is a passionate about international nutrition, with interests in identifying and combating micronutrient deficiencies during ‘the first thousand days’ window, from conception through 2 years. Her doctoral research, recently completed at the University of British Columbia, focused on the use of thiamin-fortified fish sauce to address maternal thiamin deficiency and infantile beriberi in rural Cambodia, an area where thiamin-related infant mortality remains a major public health issue. Other areas of interests include maternal and infant nutrition and feeding, human milk and lactation, micronutrient deficiencies, and the translation of nutrition research to programs and policies. I am now based in the Department of Applied Human Nutrition at Mount Saint Vincent University and plan to continue exploring public health interventions to combat nutrition deficiencies in resource-poor settings.
