Biography
MBA with distinction, University of Western Ontario, 1999 BASc (Geological Engineering), University of British Columbia, 1985 Susan has been an Instructor in the Geological Engineering Program at UBC since July 2012. Her prior work experience includes 15 years in the private sector (mainly with Klohn Crippen Berger, a Vancouver-based geotechnical engineering consulting firm), followed by 12 years managing people and transportation infrastructure in the public sector (primarily with TransLink, the transportation authority for the Greater Vancouver region). Susan has worked on diverse engineering projects in BC, Alberta, Ontario and Northwest Territories. She is registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, both as a Professional Engineer (since 1989) and a Professional Geoscientist (since 1993). Research Interest
Susan has been a registered Professional Engineer and Professional Geocientist in BC since 1989/1993 respectively. Her teaching responsibilities in the Geological Engineering Program include: development and delivery of EOSC 445, a capstone design course which gives fourth-year undergraduate students the opportunity to work in small groups on geological engineering design projects drawn from industry; development and delivery of EOSC 240, a new course in site investigations for second-year geological engineering students; and co-delivery (with Dr. Erik Eberhardt) of EOSC 210, Earth Science for Engineers, a required course for all second-year civil, mining and geological engineering students.
