Amanda Azarbehi

Biography

Dr. Azarbehi has over a decade of experience working as a researcher and therapist within the field of Clinical Psychology providing assessment and intervention services to children, teens, and adults. Her areas of past and present academic research include: Childhood Developmental Delays, Early Intervention Programs for Children with Autism, Parenting Stress, and Dyadic (Couples) Coping. As a psychology professor at Tyndale she founded TRACE – Tyndale’s Research in Autism and Community Education - which offers seminars for parents and professionals, carries out research, and runs March Break and Summer camps for children with autism and other disabilities. In addition to her teaching and research work at Tyndale Dr Azarbehi is also the clinical director of AAA Psychology and consults with numerous child and youth mental health clinics across the GTA & York region. She is also a sought after speaker and frequently runs workshops for a variety of provincial and federal agencies such as foster care & early intervention agencies and school boards. She completed her Bachelor's Degree at the University of British Columbia (UBC), has trained at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Lovaas Autism Intervention Centre, and completed her doctorate degree at the University of New Brunswick. Dr. Azarbehi also completed a 1 year internship at Bloorview Kids Rehab in Toronto as part of her clinical training. Prior to going into private practice Dr. Azarbehi worked at the North York General Hospital's (NYGH) Child Development Centre. As a psychologist on the NYGH team, Dr. Azarbehi worked on complex cases referred to her by pediatricians from across Toronto.
