Biography
Dr Nidhi Nagabhatla is a natural resource management specialist and an expert spatial analyst and currently coordinates the Water and Ecosystem program at United Nations University- Institute for Water, Environment and Health [UNU-INWEH - The UN Think Tank on Water]. She has worked more than 15 years with multiple international organisations (IWMI, World Fish Centre, and IUCN) and on diverse ecological systems in Asia, Africa and Europe, leading research and capacity development initiatives in water and wetland thematic domain. She is affiliated with leading academics institutes: Oxford University (UK); Leibniz University (Germany) and McMaster University (Canada) in various roles, mostly related to sustainability research and science-policy interfacing. With her multidisciplinary experience and pragmatic knowledge on sustainability science, she has championed work on innovative transdisciplinary research both in terms of conceptual emphasizing and underlining practical actions. She is a recipient of the prestigious ‘Chevening Rolls-Royce Science, Innovation and Leadership Program’ award at the University of Oxford under the ‘Future Leaders Program’ of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, UK. With more than 100 scientific publications (research reports, book chapters, conference publications and opinion articles) to her credit, she has made conscious efforts to contribute towards science-policy interface by synthesizing knowledge products beyond scientific publications. Nidhi serves as an expert in the key Task Force (Data and Knowledge) of Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
