Biography
Dr Dorothé Yong Nje is a research fellow at the United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa (UNU-INRA). She is equipped with more than seven years international working experience in conducting statistical and economic analyses from international development work as well as environmental and agricultural economics studies. She holds a PhD in environmental economics and natural resources management under the African Economic Research Consortium’s (AERC) Collaborative PhD Programme and a Master’s degree in public economics from University of Yaoundé II in Cameroon (PTCI – Inter University Program of Graduate School in Economics). She was formerly a researcher and teaching assistant at the University of Ottawa and University of Yaoundé II. Dr Yong was also a UNU-WIDER Visiting researcher. She has conducted appraisals for different projects, NGOs, international organizations, government, etc. on the management of natural resources including lakes, agricultural production, and access to water quality. Her research interests include economic assessment of damage caused by soil erosion in agricultural production and other sectors, using direct and indirect methods of assessment (damage function, cost / benefit analysis, contingent valuation method, method of avoided costs, etc.).
