Research Interest

My master's project concerns the interactions between waves and ice in the estuary and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The presence of ice during the winter is known to affect the wave regime. On the one hand, the ice cover reduces the action of the wind on the water and therefore limits the formation of the waves. On the other hand, the energy of the waves is attenuated during the propagation in the pack ice. Improved knowledge and numerical modeling of these interactions will help to assess the impact of ice cover reduction on the wave regime, which is the main contributor to coastal erosion in the St. Lawrence.
