Research Interest
Dr. Irene Schloss is a researcher at the Argentinian Antarctic Institute (IAA) and of the National Council of the Research (CONICET) of Argentina. She holds a PhD from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in biological oceanography, and a license in biology. The effects of UVB radiation and the role of the marine plankton on CO2 fluxes between the atmosphere and the ocean. Since the last 20 years, the plankton, temporal and spatial variations of plankton communities and physicochemical variables in relation to global climate change. She is interested in modeling of biological processes centred on marine plankton. Dr. Schloss is presently committed to promoting the scientific co-operation between Argentina and Canada, particularly with regard to research in both polar regions, the Arctic and the Antarctic. She is particularly involved in the promotion of Antarctic science (see http://www.scar.org/antera/antera-about ). I. Schloss is an Associate Professor at UQAR since 2009, and research assistant since 2008. For latest fieldwork see: http://www.scar.org/srp/ant-era#Carlini16
