Research Interest
Oceanography of the pelagic ecosystem from physical processes to whales; its functioning at various spatial and temporal scales, its biomass aggregation patterns and intensive trophic exchange through the trophic chain, ecologically and biologically significant areas and critical habitats, particularly threatened species, with the aim of to understand the fundamental mechanisms governing the existence and medium- and long-term persistence of these "hot spots" of the marine ecosystem and to identify the factors that govern them and that are likely to be affected by fluctuations and trends as well as anthropogenic pressures.
