Biography
Biography Arvind Rajendran, since Sept 2012, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta. Before joining the faculty at U of A, he was an associate professor in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He obtained his Doctor of Technical Sciences (PhD) from the group of Prof. Marco Mazzotti at the Institute of Process Engineering, ETH Zurich. Arvind is the recipient of the highest honors for teaching and mentorship at NTU. Further, he is on the editorial advisory board of Chemical Engineering and Technology and on the scientific committees of important technical conferences.
Research Interest
Research Interests Arvind’s research interests lies in large-scale adsorptive separations for sustainable chemical processing. The main focus is reducing greenhouse emissions from power plant flue gases by incorporating CO2 capture and storage (CCS) and improving the sustainability of pharmaceutical processes by replacing organic solvents by environmentally benign solvents such as CO2. The group is also interested in the fundamentals of non-linear chromatography and gas separation by adsorption.
