Research Interest
Major area of research is poultry nutrition, with emphasis on nutrient metabolism. Currently, amino acid metabolism is being studied in chickens using the Indicator Amino Acid Oxidation method. This method allows rapid determination of amino acid requirements and changes in protein metabolism associated with the inflammatory response. Another focus is the role of 25-OH vitamin D3 on bone metabolism and immune function of chickens. Future research will continue in these areas, as well as developing a research program which is responsive to poultry industry concerns.
