Research Areas: process modeling and control; operations optimization and scheduling; stochastic control; control of distributed parameter systems; economic benefits assessment Current Research Along with his duties as Department Chair, Dr. Forbes pursues research in process modelling and identification, process control, and engineering optimization. Recent areas of focus include operations optimization, stochastic and dynamic optimization, vector or multi-criteria optimization, application of post-optimality and sensitivity analysis to decision-making, model-based control of distributed paramter systems, distribution shaping control, and structured approaches to automation system benefits analysis.
