Research Interest
Major Responsibilities/Research Interests: Research is directed towards understanding the physiological adaptation of introduced and native forage species in order to optimize forage production and stand persistence under a range of management systems. Areas of interest include: seasonality of growth and photoperiod response, winter hardening and winter survival, defoliation management, competitive interference, forage establishment. Current research includes studies on: population dynamics in grass legume mixtures for intensive pasture production; phenology, growth and environmental adaptation of native grass species; population density effects on yield, feed quality and persistence of alfalfa stands; perennial weeds in hay and pasture an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) approach to managing perennial weeds in hay and pasture.
