Biography
PhD. Rehabilitation Science – McGill University – 1993 MS. Rehabilitation Science – McGill University –1988 BSc Occupational Therapy – McGill University – 1984 Background Information As an occupational therapist, Dr. Liu worked with adults with dementia and mental health conditions. Her graduate work examined cognitive and functional assessments for individuals with spatial disorientation associated with dementia. She joined the University of Alberta in 1992 and assumed the position of Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy in 2008.
Research Interest
Current Research Dr. Liu is a Co-PI on a province-wide study that is examining the application of technologies to support the work of health care aides in home and community care. Other research that is being published includes a pre and post-occupancy assessment of continuing care centres, homelikeness of continuing care, and technologies to support older adults with complex care needs living in the community.
