Research Interest
Research As a researcher in the fields of health and nursing informatics, I believe that nurses’ competence in using healthcare technology is important for safe patient care. In my PhD dissertation, Integration of health informatics in baccalaureate nursing education: Effectiveness of face-to-face vs. online teaching methods, I developed educational modules in health informatics for baccalaureate nursing students and compared the effectiveness of online and face-to-face methods in achieving learning outcomes related to this education. Other areas relevant to my program of research and interests include: E-health, digital health, consumer health informatics, health literacy, remote patient monitoring, nursing informatics, health informatics, electronic records, impact of health care technology on practice, patient outcomes, change management, adoption of innovation, transforming practice, leadership, informatics competence development and assessment, formal and continuing education in informatics, online learning, program planning and evaluation, curriculum development, interprofessional education, and quantitative methods. I welcome graduate and undergraduate students interested in the field of health and/or nursing informatics to contact me.
