BIOGRAPHY:Characterization of fracture surfaces and networks, fracture network mapping, permeability-distribution assessment through well tests, and permeability up-scaling.
Research Interest
Enhanced oil/heavy-oil recovery: Mature field development, modeling matrix-fracture interaction during waterflooding, thermal and chemical injection, tertiary recovery of oil/heavy-oil using gas and low IFT agents (NSERC, Grant G121210595 and CFI Project #7566), optimal use of CO2 in oil recovery and sequestration (FSIDA and IPF projects, NSERC strategic Grant and Apache Oil), and application of SAGD and solvent injection in oil sands. In-situ upgrading of heavy-oil/bitumen by Ozone, Ca), solvents and ultrasonic waves during steam injection (APEX Eng. Project).
Publications
-
Collaboration was initiated with ITU, Turkey. A PDF joined my research group to work on “Modeling Single Phase Flow in Fractures.
-
Collaboration with APEX Eng., on “Using bio-diesel with steam in bitumen recovery†was initiated.

The renewed NSERC discovery grant (2007) and CIF New Opportunities Grant were utilized for the research works on reservoir characterization and enhanced oil recovery. The NSERC Strategic Grant (GHGM) on CO2 sequestration was completed.
