Xihua Wang

Biography

Xihua Wang received the BSc degree in Physics from Peking University (Beijing) in 2003, and the Master and PhD degrees in Physics from Boston University in 2005 and 2009, respectively. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto from 2009 to 2012. Since 2012, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta. Dr. Wang received the Photonics Graduate Fellowship at Boston University (2006), and the Ontario Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Toronto (2010).

Research Interest

Research Interests Photovoltaics Infrared-bandgap nanomaterials Nanoelectronics Micro/Nanophotonics Current Research My current research interests are in the area of nanomaterials and micro/nanostructure engineering for photovoltaics and novel optoelectronic devices. Semiconductor colloidal quantum dots exhibit size-effect tuning of their electronic and optical properties, and are of interest in next-generation renewable energy technologies like solar energy harvesting (X. Wang et al. Nature Photonics 5, 480 (2011)), high-efficiency lighting, and thermoelectric conversion. Projects make use of the Nanofab at the University of Alberta enable engineering of micro/nanostructured devices for photovoltaics and photonic.
