Biography
Guanqun (Gavin) Chen belongs to the department of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences Agricultural Food and Nutritional Science from the university of Alberta.
Research Interest
The Chen Laboratory focuses on lipid biotechnology in plants and microalgae. We are currently working in three research areas: (1) mechanisms of storage lipid formation and acyl-trafficking at molecular and biochemical levels, (2) coordination of lipid biosynthesis, cell development and other pathways (such as cellulose biosynthesis and carotenoid biosynthesis), and (3) biotechnological strategies for increasing the production of oil and related bio-products.
