Research Interest
Our nephrology research program is primarily concerned with investigating central venous catheter infections and thrombosis. We have completed a series of research investigations to confirm the stability of “antiseptic/anticoagulant-lock" solutions inside central venous catheters and investigated their ability to eradicate resistant organisms. We are also currently planning a prospective randomized clinical trial to investigate thrombolytic use in the hemodialysis population for occluded central venous catheters. We are interested in pharmacokinetic evaluation of drugs in renal failure and hemodialysis, and the implementation of pharmaceutical care in dialysis units and the community.
