Biography
Song is an Associate Professor of Polymer Chemistry and directs the Biomaterials Synthesis and Surface Engineering Laboratory. His research focuses on 1) development of novel surface engineering techniques for polymers; 2) development of new biocidal molecules/polymers/materials and responsive "smart" polymers; and 3) nano-encapsulation of bioactive agents for their targeted and controlled delivery. He has received >1.35 M in research funding as PI and around $1M as Co-PI/collaborator for his work in the above areas.
Research Interest
The current research program in my laboratory focuses on 1) the development of novel surface engineering techniques for chemically inert semicrystalline polymers; 2) the development of new biocidal and biocompatible materials; and 3) micro- and nano-encapsulation of bioactive agents for their targeted and controlled delivery.
