Yi Li

Biography

Dr. Yi Li is currently an associate professor of second-language education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba. She teaches second-language teaching methodology courses as well as graduate-level courses in second-language education and narrative inquiry. Her research interests and publications are on the topics of narrative inquiry as a research methodology, the role of hope in newcomer students’ experiences in Canada, and narrative inquiry in relation with the fields of international education, second-language education and teacher education. Prior to working at the University of Manitoba, she has worked as a university English teacher in Shanghai for 10 years, a Myer Horowitz teacher education research scholar at the Centre for Research for Teacher Education and Development at the University of Alberta for two years, and a post-doctoral fellow in Hope Research in the Department of Educational Psychology, University of Alberta and the Hope Foundation of Alberta for two years.
