Research Interest
The main issues that animate me are the ways in which cultural and media practices, discourses and devices, in their articulation with different forms of exercise of power, participate in producing what works and prevails as self-evident. Popular culture and, more specifically, popular music constitute aThey are particularly interested in exploring these issues because of their strategic role in shaping identities and affiliations, as well as in the mediation of public culture, particularly in Quebec. This led me to focus, among other things, on the promotion of cultural consumer products, industries and policies related to music, the effectiveness of fame / celebrity, transformations of 'live' (small theaters, corporate shows) and the regimes of musical circulation, cultural and public memory issues.
