Research Interest
Her teachings and research focus on political attitudes in multi-level political systems, especially in the European Union. I study how political values, perceptions of public policies and national contexts contribute to the formation of political support for different levels of governance. My work focuses on the comparison of national contexts and the combined effects of individual and contextual dimensions. In this perspective, my current research revolves around two distinct issues. On the one hand, I am working on the politicization of attitudes towards European integration. This research is part of a wider perspective of analysis of support for European integration and its evolution over time. Recent developments in public opinion and European civil society show that citizens are no longer taking a stand, by their votes, their opinions, their demonstrations, on the principle of European integration, but on the orientation of policies produced by the EU, particularly in the recent context of the economic crisis. This project seeks to explain this politicization mechanism and to evaluate its consequences on general support for integration and on electoral behavior. Under what conditions (individual and contextual) do citizens express a specific vision of the European project? To what extent are we witnessing the structuring of alternative-European opinions in the different Member States and according to comparable logic or not? On the other hand, I am eroding anti-Roma attitudes in Europe (project in collaboration with Roxana Barbulescu, University of Sheffield - College of Europe, and Allison Harell, UQAM). This research analyzes the individual and contextual factors of attitudes towards Roma, with particular attention to the contextual effects underlying a possible East / West divide, notably by analyzing the impact of the media on attitudes (using new data on media coverage).
