Research Interest
His research projects focus on sexually assaulted children and youth and come under three broad headings. They are carried out as part of the activities of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Conjugal Problems and Sexual Abuse (CRIPCAS), the Marie-Vincent Foundation Inter-University Research Chair on Sexual Assault and the Sexual Violence and Health Team (ÉVISSA). ). The first part examines the victims' sequelae and their ability to adapt according to various parameters affecting the characteristics of the aggression, the link with the aggressor, those of the family and the services received. A second component of research is to better understand who the mothers and fathers of sexually abused children are and to determine the impact that disclosure of this abuse has on them. This research also attempts to verify the importance and impact of victim support on child and adolescent adjustment. The final component is the investigative interview with children suspected of having experienced sexual assault. This research has verified the effectiveness of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) guide on the one hand to reduce the suggestive and directive behavior of interviewers (in order to preserve the integrity of the evaluation process) and on the other hand, to increase the credibility of the child's testimony by the quality and quantity of details given about the sexual assault. Current research aims to increase our knowledge of the child's personal factors and the family factors that may influence his or her testimony.
