Research Interest
Specialized in comparative politics, his research and teaching focuses on Latin America. She is interested in political regimes, particularly the recurrent phenomenon of populism. A political expression of the 1930s, it survived the authoritarian regimes of the 60s and 70s and the democratization processes of the 80s and 90s. She argues that populism is compatible with some forms of democracy as well as with certain forms of authoritarianism, and that it can take both conservative and adhering to certain principles of the left.
